Optimist Intermediate

Session 2

March 6th - May 2nd

Optimist Racing - MBJA Sailing School


This class offers an opportunity for Experienced sailors to build on their basic boat handling, points of sail, sportsmanship, water safety and rigging while having fun.

Curriculum typically includes points of sail, tacking, jibing, Rules of the Road, triangle course, and the Basics of sailboat racing /strategy. Sailors may take the Intermediate course multiple times as they improve their competency with their skills.

This Class is for ages: 8 years old to 15-year-old.

*No Exceptions.

Schedule

Friday 4:00pm - 6:00pm (Dusk)

Saturday - 1:00pm - 4:00pm

sailing experience required. Beginner Optimist class is a good perquisite.

Equipment:
PFDs (lifejackets) are required, sailors who do not have their own may borrow a PFD from the Sailing Program.
Sun protective clothing & sunscreen are strongly recommended, as is a refillable water bottle (there is a water fill station in the club for refills).
Other optional equipment: Hat, sunglasses, water shoes, sailing gloves.


Participants should be able to demonstrate adequate swimming ability in swimming short distances and treading water while wearing a PFD. Scholarships Available!
