St. Croix Yacht Club Fleet Rules

The current Yacht Club fleet consists of:

24 Optimists
24 Sunfish

4 Lasers

12 Club 420s
2 Rhodes 19 (“Puppy II”, "Harry")

2 Whalers 16' (utility boats)

1 Hobie 16

6 Open Bics

4 Kayaks

3 Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP)

 

LAUNCH SERVICE

Launch service is a courtesy service provided by the Yacht Club and the Waterfront staff.

If launch service is needed arrangement should be made in advance with the Waterfront Manager at a mutually agreeable time. Unscheduled launch service is pending staff availability. Waterfront contact: Waterfront@StCroixYC.com

This service is available only to Yacht Club members and designated contractors.

 

RULES FOR USING THE YACHT CLUB BOATS

Use of the boats is restricted to club hours and Yacht Club members.

All boats must be checked out from the Waterfront Coordinator or Club Manager.  A log shall be maintained in the office for ALL boat usage.  A damage deposit and liability waivers must be on file for all users.

Please note that damage deposits are deposits.  You are responsible for any damage to the boat even if it goes beyond the damage deposit amount.

All boats must be returned and put away properly and any key or related equipment returned to the office or where usually stored and check out on the log in the office.

Priority use of boats is:

Training
Racing
Pleasure

 

Optimists, Sunfish, Club 420s

All sailors must have a $100.00 damage deposit on file in the office and a signed liability waiver.

Any member wishing to use these boats must be checked out by a person designated by the Fleet Captain, Waterfront Coordinator or the Club Manager.

These boats are not allowed outside of Teague Bay or outside the reef, unless approved by Fleet Captain.

There is no fee for Yacht Club members to use these boats.  A Charter Fee applies to any non-members using these boats for Yacht Club events, as well to any of the Racing Optimist

All sailors must wear a PFD (Personal Flotation Device) when using these boats.

 

Rhodes 19's

All sailors must make a reservation in the office, have a $200.00 damage deposit on file in the office, and sign a liability waiver. There is a fee for Rhodes 19 use, for more information reach out to the office.

Any member wishing to use the Rhodes 19, must be checked out by a designee of the Club Manager or Waterfront Coordinator. If a member intends to take the Rhodes 19 out of Teague Bay, he/she must be on the DPNR user list.

Anyone under 16 must wear a PFD.  Anyone under 13 must be supervised by a guardian 

Kayak

Kayaks are for member use only. All users must wear a PFD.  Anyone under 13 must be supervised by a guardian. Kayaks must be checked out in the office, and checked in upon return.

Stand Up Paddle Boards ( SUP) 

SUPs are for member use only. A PFD Shall be worn at all times. SUPs must be checked out in the office, and checked in upon return.

SCYC Utility and Safety Boats

Use of yacht club equipment to render assistance in emergency situations is approved, ONLY IF assistance can be accomplished without endangering personnel or equipment. Yacht club equipment is NOT to be used for non-emergency salvage, towing and/or hauling.

The launches may be used by members who have been checked out by the Club Manager, Waterfront Coordinator or a person designated by the Waterfront Manager.  The Club Manager will maintain a list of those members who have been checked out to use the launches.  Only those members may use the launches.  A liability waiver must be on file in the office.  A logout/login sheet shall be maintained in the office.

The launches are meant only to get people or supplies to and from moored boats.  Hence, they should not be away from the dock for more than 20 minutes at a time.  The launches are also used for committee, safety and mark boats for races and may not be available for launch service during race events except for crews participating in the race. 

The launches are also used for the Junior Sailing Program and may not be readily available during program times.

The key for the launches may be obtained from the Club Manager or the office. If using a launch, the launch and key must be returned before the office closes.



The Club is formed for the express purpose of promoting interest and activity in the ownership, racing and cruising of yachts and small boats; of providing a meeting place for members whose common interest lies in ships and the sea; of augmenting the recreational facilities and visitor attractions of the island; of exchange and courtesies with other yacht clubs of the United States and Caribbean islands, and of extending to visiting yachtsmen the hospitality of St. Croix.
