High School Sailing

  • High School Sailing - $400 per semester

  • (Tues 3:45-6:15) (Thurs 3:45-6:15)

  • Additional practices and clinics to be set by Coach Stanton

  •  (Sept 17th - Dec 19th)

  • Grades 8 -12
  • Prerequisite: No prior sailing experience required
  • Physical Training to be set by Coach Stanton

The 420 sailing team for High School (HS) sailors is a Good Hope Country Day School Team (GHCDS-Panthers)  The team participates in local Caribbean events and clinics and travels to various events in the States, .  The GHCDS HS team is open to boys and girls in the 8th-12th grades, the varsity team is limited to 9th-12th grade students. HS sailing is a stepping stone for sailing at the college level and follows a similar format as collegiate sailing, college recruiters are often at HS sailing events.  USVI HS sailing teams compete in SAISA https://saisa.hssailing.org/ sponsored events.

  • Those registering multiple students and/or sessions may select "Invoice Me" and enter payment information only once.
  • Registration is not complete and spot(s) will not be held until payment is received in FULL.

Student requirements are:

  • Current SCYC membership (Junior or Family) is required.
  • Able to swim 50 yards and pass a swim test. 
  • Provide a U.S. Coast Guard approved Type III Personal Flotation.Device (PFD) with a plastic whistle attached.
  • Sailing gloves and sunglasses are recommended for all courses.
  • Sailing boots or shoes that can get wet.

The Club is formed for the express purpose of promoting interest and activity in the ownership, racing and cruising of yachts and small boats; of providing a meeting place for members whose common interest lies in ships and the sea; of augmenting the recreational facilities and visitor attractions of the island; of exchange and courtesies with other yacht clubs of the United States and Caribbean islands, and of extending to visiting yachtsmen the hospitality of St. Croix.
