Sailing Adventure
daytime class!
Join us every Thursday afternoon for the Sailing Adventure class. This class is designed for working on the fundamentals of sailing and seamanship while also exploring the waters of the East end of St. Croix through sailing games and excursions to neighboring bays. Sailors will increase sailing experience and improve nautical skills in a fun environment. Activities may vary based on the weather and sea state.
This program is for intermediate and advanced sailors. Sailing may take place on any of the club's fleet including; Sunfish, Lasers, O'Pen Bics, 420s, and more. Sailors must be able to rig, launch, sail, right, pull themselves from the water into the boat, and haul the boat unassisted. Sailors will be required to demonstrate swimming competency.
The Sailing Adventure Class will run once a week for 7 weeks
Thursdays 1:00 - 3:30
Equipment:
PFDs (lifejackets) are required, sailors who do not have their own may borrow a PFD from the Sailing Program.
Sun protective clothing & sunscreen are strongly recommended, as is a refillable water bottle (there is a water fill station in the club for refills).
Other optional equipment: Hat, sunglasses, water shoes, sailing gloves.
This class is recommended for ages 12 and up. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Sailing Program. Scholarships Available.
