SCYC Sailing Program Covid19 Protocols

SCYC respectfully requests that all members, guests and program participants strictly follow these operating rules and procedure guidelines.  SCYC is committed to providing a safe and fun sailing program that keeps everyone healthy.

  • As per CDC guidelines, Everyone Must:

    • Use sanitizer/wash hands upon entering the clubhouse

    • Wear face coverings when within 6 feet of each other

    • Avoid physical contact

  • Non-member parents drop off and pick up sailors promptly at start and finish session times

  • All parents remain outside of the rigging area

  • Once dropped off, sailors start rigging their boat immediately, prepare to launch and await instruction

  • Bathroom usage should be limited to 4 sailors at a time, no congregating in the bathroom

  • Pre-briefs and debriefs may be done via Zoom or with adequate social distancing outside

  • If weather requires off the water activities, social distancing must be observed

  • Coach boats: Instructors use teamwork and social distancing to operate and clean coach boats

  • Sailors keep their personal snacks and water in their boat or designated area (cubbie)

  • Sailors should bring their own PFD daily, any PDF’s left at the club will be sprayed with disinfectant

  • All gear left out at the SCYC will be sprayed with disinfectant and put in Lost & Found 

  • Parents may schedule meetings with staff via email

  • If a parent or sailor doesn’t feel well, stay at home

If any participant, member or guest is unable to follow these rules and guidelines they may be asked to leave the premises and/or program until they are able to follow procedures/protocol.





MISSION STATEMENT

The Club is formed for the express purpose of promoting interest and activity in the ownership, racing and cruising of yachts and small boats; of providing a meeting place for members whose common interest lies in ships and the sea; of augmenting the recreational facilities and visitor attractions of the island; of exchange and courtesies with other yacht clubs of the United States and Caribbean islands, and of extending to visiting yachtsmen the hospitality of St. Croix.
