Little Mariners SailingIntroductory classes will be held at the St. Croix Yacht Club for youths ages 5 to 8. There will be no exceptions to the age requirements. Classes will begin at 9:00am and end at 12:00pm. All Classes will be taught by U.S. Sailing Certified Instructors. This class is designed for kids who have little to no sailing or boating experience. We will teach them the fundamentals of living and playing safely near the water. Boat handling, rowing, strengthening swimming skills and safety will be taught. This is a great place for the young ones to get comfortable in the water and on a boat sailing in front of the club in Teague Bay. We will start the Little Mariners sailing in Rhodes 19s skippered by US Sailing Certified Instructors. In this part of the course they will learn how the wind affects the boat as well as how to steer and trim the sails. We will also learn rowing techniques, knots and other nautical terminology.
