The St. Croix Yacht Club offers a variety of opportunities for Land Lubbers and Salty Dogs alike. For the individuals who prefer to spectate from the High Ground and watch the action unfold, many of our races happen on Teague Bay and can be viewed from the comfort of your bar stool. For those who are interested in trying out something new, our Buck Island Races often include motor-boaters and welcome new sailors to join the festivities on sailing vessels both large and small. For the Salt Water Soul looking for challenge and fast paced adventure, the St. Croix Yacht Club hosts a number of Races for Dinghy Sailors and handicapped racers year round. With the Buck Island National Monument as the backdrop for some fine Caribbean racing, the St. Croix Yacht Club offer’s an incredible experience for all.

Available for members use are a variety of One-Design boats. Following a competency check with the Manager or Waterfront Coordinator each member has access to over 40 dinghy’s at the SCYC. Prior reservation for these boats is requested.

                                    Waterfront Education Programs

The St. Croix Yacht Club Waterfront Education Programs have a reputation of training and developing some of the finest young sailors in the Caribbean. A graduating program, students can begin at the very basic Learn to Sail level and graduate through each level at their own pace, all the way up to Advanced Racing.

Youth Sail Training activities

  • Year Round Sail Training Opportunities are held for experience and novice Sailors alike. Check out “Year Round Programming” for more information.
  • Summer program: For over 50 years, the St. Croix Yacht Club has provided summer learn to sail courses, 2 and 3 weeks long, taught by US Sailing certified instructors for ages 8 to 18, open to both members and non-members. See details under Summer Sail Program.
  • High School Sailing:  Since 2007, the St Croix Yacht Club has partnered with local schools to provide fall and spring semester after school sail training 3 days a week in Club owned boats. Participants must be SCYC members

  • Private lessons are are also available in either private or club owned boats. Check with Manager or Waterfront Coordinator for price break-down and to book your next private lessons

Clinics

Working hand in hand with Virgin Island Sailing Association, Virgin Island Optimist Dinghy Association, and our fellow neighbors in St. Thomas and St. John, the St. Croix Yacht Club hosts various clinics throughout the year. Coaches from Universities and World Class Sailors from across the country find their way to St. Croix to work with our sailors throughout the year. Clinics can focus on a variety of topics including: “Sail your sunfish like a Worlds sailor”, High School Team Racing, High School Fleet Racing, Optimist Green Fleet, and Optimist Championship Sailing.
